For the first time, full-size crossover Ford Flex was presented in 2005 and 3 years later, in 2008, the model went on sale. According to the company, this large crossover was supposed to replace Taurus X and Ford Freestar minivans, therefore it became the first Ford crossover which combined properties of minivan and crossover. Ford Flex is on sale only in the USA, Canada, and Near East. In 2009, the model experienced restyling. Ford Flex can accommodate seven passengers, second and third row of seats can be folded to place large loads.
An argument in favor of Ford Flex could be modern control of almost all functions – from satellite navigation to radio. They allow control systems using voice commands. The system of voice communication and entertainment is called Ford Sync and is developed together with Microsoft company, combines functions of a cell phone, satellite radio Sirius, CD player, DVDs, and other media and navigation systems.
The basic equipment set of Ford Flex includes 18-inch wheels (they can be replaced by 19-inch), rear view camera, which is located just above the bumper (the image from the camera is transmitted to the display, which greatly helps while parking). For an additional charge, Ford offers all-wheel drive version for Ford Flex. In addition, an updated version of the crossover could be distinguished with new independent rear suspension.
The motor of Ford Flex is quite powerful, specifically, 3.5-liter engine rated at 262 HP, works in tandem with 6-speed automatic transmission. Maximum lifting capacity is about 2 tons. Despite the fact that the model has not received much distribution such as Ford Focus, the crossover will find the customer who will be more than satisfied with the capabilities offered by Ford Flex.
