Ford Fusion is a five-door hatchback of B class which was issued by the European division of Ford Motor Company in the city of Cologne (Germany) from 2002 to 2012. There are three complete sets: Core, Trend, and Elegance. The premiere of the European Ford Fusion was held in 2002 at the Motor Show in Geneva. Developers of Ford company, due to the increase of popularity of crossovers decided to create a certain intermediate version of the car which would incorporate advantages of a compact SUV, minivan and ordinary hatchback. So, there was a car with a quite logical name – Fusion.
In fact, Ford Fusion harmoniously incorporates such characteristics as high ground clearance, off-road design, compact sizes and spacious interior. As a base for the novelty, Ford Fiesta was used.
The model managed to endure a restyling during the 10-year period of release of Ford Fusion (2005) and change line of engines. As for improvements in external and internal shape, besides standard updates of a radiator enclosure, moldings and bumpers, it should be noted, in addition, such unusual option as the game console located in the multimedia center near rear seats.
1,6-liter diesel Duratorq motor which began to be installed on Ford Fusion since 2004, became the last joint development of Ford company and Peugeot-Citroen group. Ford Fusion became a base for all-wheel drive Ford EcoSport crossover which was issued in Brazil for the markets of Latin America countries from 2003 to 2011.
