Ford Mondeo
All Years and ModificationsFord Mondeo is a passenger car produced by an American automobile manufacturer Ford Motor Company at the factory in Belgium. The first generation of Ford Mondeo was introduced in January and sales of the model began in March 1993. Ford Mondeo was available in following versions: four-door sedan, five-door hatchback, and five-door station wagon.
The name of the car is from Latin word Mundus - "World" and the company had intended to sell Ford Mondeo in all markets around the world, without making any significant changes. However, Ford Mondeo was primarily focused on the European market, and the novelty gained very quick commercial success on this continent. Sales in the North American market can not be called successful.
Since the first and the second generations of Ford Mondeo were classified as EPA compact car, the car seemed to be expensive for its segment. In 1996, the external appearance of Ford Mondeo was significantly refreshed and could be considered as a new generation. Logically, the price of the novelty became even higher.
Later, the market expects the release of the new Ford Mondeo, which would be sold in Europe under the name of Mondeo. The car was increased in size, while its power plant became economic. This new generation of class D sedan was demonstrated by Americans at the Auto Show in Detroit. The basic version of Ford Mondeo was equipped by four-cylinder engine volume of 2.5 liters rated at 172 horsepower along with automatic transmission, information system Sync (which can be also used for multimedia entertainment), telescopic steering wheel with buttons to control the player, 16-inch wheels, and many other facilities.
