All Years and ModificationsFord Escort is the best selling automobile created by Ford company after Ford T. The first model of Ford Escort was assembled in 1967, replacing Ford Anglia. These cars were two and four-sedans with engines volumes of 1.1 and 1.3 liters. In addition, an American company introduced a sporting version with motor volume of 2 liters. Since March, 1982, the model list of Ford Escort were completed with 1.6-liters power units: 110 HP (LUA/LPA) with twin Weber carburettors were replaced by 115 HP (LNA) K-Jetronic injection. After seven months, Ford Escort was powered by petrol injected K-Jetronic LRA engine rated at 105 horsepower. The production of 55 HP engine was discontinued in 1982 together with 88 HP LPA in 1983. In Autumn, 1982, Ford Escort with body type of three and five-door station wagons called Ford Escort Kombi with a cabin volume of up to 1200 liters as well as three-door vans were distributed. But they were not in a great demand.
The production of Escort IV was continued until Autumn 1990, so since September this year, Ford introduced the fifth generation of Ford Escort. Simultaneously, as the beginning of new sedan Ford Escort has been updated, it became popular under the name of Orion. During this period, the production of a station wagon Escort VI Turnier went on.
The list of engines of Ford Escort was added an economical motor in February, 1984. It was 1.6-liter diesel LTC whose fuel consuption was 5.8 liter per 100 km. In summer, 1985, GPA, JPA and LPA engines rated at 79 HP was terminated and were replaced by LUC 1.6-liter 90-horsepower.
