The first generation of Toyota Camry went on sale in 1982 in bodies of sedan and liftback. Preceded model becomes popular under the name of Toyota Celica Camry. Toyota Celica was a sedan, which was also released as coupe and liftback. Some generations of the model were on sale only at the Japanese market. Early generations of the model did not surpass other models in size, such as Carina and Corona, but the producer always positioned Camry as a high-class car.
For each priority market, Toyota released a unique version of Toyota Camry. Distinctions are minimum and generally, in appearance and line of engines. Nowadays, Japanese version exists only in option with the hybrid power plant. The car is manufactured in Japan, Russia, the USA, and China.
In 2006, the sixth generation of Toyota Camry released. The release continued till 2011. The car was produced only in sedan body type. The car showed reliability and was in very great demand in Russia, the USA, and China. Toyota Camry the next generation is constructed on the basis of the previous version. The main innovation was appearance: This Toyota Camry became more like Lexus. The model was presented on August 23, 2011, in Nice, France.
On rear seats, it became much more spacious, expensive complete sets, control package of climate control and the multimedia system appeared. Materials of an inner trim became qualitative. Motors remained the same, but 2.5 liters four-cylinder engine became more powerful as now it develops 181 hp. Four-speed automatic transmission was installed only on two-liter versions. Toyota Camry with motors volume of 2.5 and 3.5-liter was equipped with an absolutely new six-speed automatic transmission.
Ford Mondeo, Mazda 6 and Honda Accord give more pleasures from fast driving, but Toyota Camry provides comfort. Only Nissan Teana can argue in the level of comfort with Toyota Camry. A version with the most powerful engine has magnificent dynamics: 277 hp in combination with quickly working automatic transmission allow reaching the first 100 km/h in 7 seconds.
