Skoda Fabia – the car of a small class which is manufactured since 1999 by Czech car producer Skoda Auto. Skoda Fabia came for the replacement of Skoda Felicia whose production was stopped in 2001.
The first generation of Skoda Fabia was officially premiered at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September 1999. In October, Skoda Fabia was started in mass production. It was the first car using A04 platform by Volkswagen Group on an equal basis with Volkswagen Polo Mk 4 and SEAT Ibiza. New Skoda Fabia has quickly won popularity among drivers with a worthy quality of assembly and offering a wide choice of complete sets at reasonable prices.
In 2005, Skoda Fabia underwent small modernization in appearance. Front fog lights and radiator enclosure were changed, obtained new steering wheel and Sport Edition version. Sports version received 1.4-liter engine, manual gearbox, and red seat belts. Initially, Skoda Fabia was offered in three complete sets: Classic, Comfort, and Elegance. Later, the complete set of Comfort was abolished in favor of Ambiente with richer equipment.
The next generation of Skoda Fabia released in March 2007, shown at the motor show in Geneva. In comparison with the predecessor, the novelty grew up almost in all directions — by 22 mm in length (3992) and by 47 mm in height (1498). Under the hood, there are five engines — three petrol (1.2, 1.4 and 1.6) and two turbodiesel TDI (1.4 and 1.9). Power dissipation is from 60 to 105 hp. Among achievements of the Czech car, there is a four-star rating by Euro NCAP organization and the title "Car of 2007" in Serbia. Perhaps, these partly affected the popularity of the car: during 2008 and 2009, Skoda Fabia was sold 246,561 and 264,173 units respectively around the world.
