All Years and ModificationsThe first generation of cross-country car - Subaru Forester officially went on sale in 1997. Two years earlier, the model was presented at the Tokyo auto show. After the entry into the domestic market in Japan in 1998, the sales of the Japanese SUV started in America. At that time, the crossover was an unknown term, until Subaru Forester corresponded to the new definition. The all-wheel drive gave an advantage of SUV on the cross-country terrain, together with comfort and quite small sizes as well as sufficient maneuverability when driving around the city.
On Subaru Forester, an intellectual system of distribution effort to wheels by the computer is applied. When driving on the highway, preference is given to front wheels and the most part of torque is transferred to them as soon as the car moves down from the blazed way, the system itself distributes effort evenly to all four wheels. The car was offered buyers with gasoline four-cylinder engines with different volumes. The first Subaru Forester version was successfully on sale till 2003 when the second generation of Subaru Forester came out to update its model line.
