Maybach

The most talented German engineer Wilhelm Maybach stood at the origins of such company as Mercedes. He cooperated with Emil Jellinek in order to achieve cars of DMG (Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft) company that became so well-known. However, in 1907, Maybach leaves the company. The reason was a conflict with Paul Daimler, son of the famous Gottlieb Daimler who headed the production after his father's death in 1900.

Having left the company for which he worked so much, Maybach did not begin to despair and decided to start his own production. Having registered in 1909, together with his son Karl, Maybach-Motorenbau GmbH started working. Initially, the company was engaged in engines for airships of Zeppelin. A bit later, production of plane engines began.

For some time, it was possible to survive due to Netherlands Spyker Automobielfabriek, but in 1926, it went bankrupt. Then, Karl Maybach decides to create cars. Begin to appear luxury cars, which were made in view of the most exquisite whims of customers. W3 model was the first, then W5 appeared — both of them were innovative, by the standards of that time. There was also W5 SG a bit later.

In 2002, there were two models — Maybach 57 and Maybach 62 (figures mean their length in decimeters). These cars were positioned as the main competitors to models of such legendary brands as Bentley and Rolls-Royce. Affording luxury in the form of Maybach is not for everyone. This wheel miracle is an excellent indicator of the status, it always draws attention.

But the even greater luxury of Maybach was working with tuning studio Brabus (for example, Maybach 57S and Maybach 62S models). There were not just magnificent interiors, but magnificent speeds — these cars possessed speed records for luxury cars. Sales of Maybach cars were very low and did not justify investments made in them. It was not succeeded to make worthy competition with Bentley and Rolls-Royce.
