Hyundai has started implementing the TCR project
The South Korean automaker Hyundai has allocated a model that will represent the brand in the TCR. It will be Hyundai i30, which was presented last year.
It is known that in order to meet the requirements of TCR, engineers equipped the model with 2.0-liter turbo engine mated to a 6-band manual transmission. The first steps in the project were made as early as September last year.
Michel Nandan, the head of South Korea's Hyundai Motorsport division of the company, expressed hope that Hyundai i30 will succeed as a car in the competition, and as a user car. He emphasized that the company will do everything that the model will be competitive.
Meanwhile, in TCR already comment on Hyundai's intention to take part in competitions with its car. General promoter of a racing series Marcello Lotti declared that he is glad to receipt of such giant to "seven TCR", having noticed that such event will contribute growth of prestige of promotion.
